The Branch donated N50,000.00 and over N100,000.00 was donated by individual members. It was possible to give assistance to about 60 students. Special thanks go to Zamani College and Mary Travis School for their much-appreciated contributions.

Nigerwives Community Project for Kaduna State Special Education School (KASSES)

This year Nigerwives Kaduna engaged in a Community Project for KASSES.

With the financial assistance from six private schools in Kaduna, our Branch successfully renovated the showers and toilets of the school at a total cost of N3,550,500.00 of which N2,660,000.00 came from our branch, individual members and 3 schools founded by Nigerwives. Josephine Mohammed personally appealed to the private schools for donations as well as providing the contractor of Zamani College to execute the project. Carmen Otigbah’s daughter Vicky, an architect by profession, supervised with marvellous results. Josephine was also instrumental in having the school compound thoroughly cleaned by “Zamani College“ team of 10 environmental workers.

The project was handed over officially to the Principal of KASSES on Friday, 13th September 2019 in the presence of the Commissioner of Education, the Director of Schools and representatives of the donor schools. It is hoped to continue the project in other ways during the next long vacation.

2. Other Outreach Programmes

Ayuba Ishaya, the blind student the Branch was sponsoring received N75,200.00 to cover his course fees. He is now in his final year at the University of Jos and is due to complete his course project by early March.

The general situation in Kaduna remains characterized by insecurity and rising crime as a result of the increasingly harsh economic climate up North. The Branch was not able to hold the usual Bazaar in December due to a shortage of organizing members. It is however hoped to hold a fundraising event in April 2020.
