NIGERWIVES NIGERIA - AKWA IBOM STATE BRANCH
2019 ANNUAL REPORT
By President: Olga ITAKETO
Nigerwives Akwa Ibom branch was made up of 11 paid-up members as at December 2019. Unfortunately, we experienced this decline in our membership number because some of our sisters were away to have their babies and some for medical reasons. However, we were still able to meet as a group with the number of ladies we had left.
Our very first meeting for the year was exceptionally hosted by our sister Mrs.Monika Essien who gave us a wonderful treat in Julius Berger estate Restaurant, and thereafter we had a tour of the premises. The smiles on our faces say it all.
Another memorable gathering for the year was our Sister and National President’s birthday, Mrs Lakshmi Tombush. We were given a queen’s treat and we can always count on her for being an excellent host.
The branch’s Exco membership stayed the same as 2019 as we deemed it reasonable to continue with the same team.

The branch project; Nigerwives Park and recreational centre is still in full force and we are able to give back to the community as well as earn some income for the branch. A series of recreational events for children were being hosted in the Park thus furthering the purpose of its existence. We were also able to enhance the overall landscape of the Recreational Centre to give it a new ambience. This has helped to boost the popularity of the Centre.
Three of our young sisters were also blessed with new babies, all 3 girls. We as a branch celebrate them and are happy for an increase in our next generation.
AGM 2019 was an occasion that the branch really looked forward to attending being Nigerwive’s 40th anniversary and also the 1st time to be attended by the branch president Mrs.Olga Itaketo. We as a branch were also very proud to have the sitting National President and National Secretary as members. We forever commend them for their efforts to keep this branch moving forward and keep our flame burning. We sure were well represented by Mrs.Olga Itaketo and Mrs.Ludmilla Ebong who were our branch delegates. The event was a memorable one for them and they were well catered for. We thank our Lagos sisters for the hospitality given to us and for a well-planned and organized event. We will also like to express our gratitude to all our sisters who keep on fighting for the rights of all Nigerwives both registered and non-registered members, especially with regards to the CERPAC which has been very challenging for many.
